These copycat Wingers’ Sticky Fingers are a family favorite dinner! Quick, simple, and crazy delicious!
When I was in college, I went on many regrettable dates. Some were terrible, some were just terribly boring. One such date was with a boy I had been pining over in one of my classes. He FINALLY asked me out, and then he turned out to be the most uninteresting human being on the entire planet. Uninteresting, and condescending. At one point he told me that he learned Portuguese on his church mission, and I asked if he went to Portugal. He responded in shock and confusion, “What?? No, I went to Brazil.” I spent the rest of the date trying to figure out if I had made up the word “Portugal”. Like if he said he spoke Dutch and I asked if he went to Dutchagal.
Anyway. All of the date was lame city. Except. The food. We went to a restaurant called Wingers, and it was the one and only time I ever went to that restaurant. Everything about the date was completely forgettable, except my food.
I ordered something called “Sticky Fingers”, and after a hasty side-hug goodbye, I laid in my bed and dreamed sweet dreams of these sweet and slightly spicy chicken fingers.
Years later, I was still thinking about these chicken fingers, and I happened to google to see if they sold the sauce. I was quite delighted to discover I was not alone in my love of Sticky Fingers and I found copy cat recipes all over the internet.
Adapted to my own tastes, and served with my own homemade ranch dressing, these are a SLAM. DUNK. Literally, you better dunk these bad boys in some ranch dressing, or you ain’t living.
Sticky Fingers with Homemade Buttermilk Ranch
I am a ranch dressing snob. I don’t even like store bought ranch dressing. But homemade ranch dressing? I would eat a cardboard box dipped in the stuff. If I cup up a plate of vegetables to serve with dinner, they will be completely ignored. But if I serve them with some homemade ranch on the side? All gone.
I wanted to make a ranch dressing that could be made with all staple ingredients I always have on hand. When the urge to get your ranch on strikes, you can’t be dilly-dallying with fresh herbs and buttermilk. Anytime you need buttermilk, you can always mix milk with a splash of lemon juice. With dried herbs and this buttermilk sub, homemade ranch is always just a minute away.
This is my favorite chicken to use for these Sticky Fingers, because they are on the healthy-er side of chicken fingers. Obviously deep fried chicken fingers with tons of breading are the very most delicious, but the sauce is SO good, you can get away with a lighter chicken choice.
And served up with tons of fresh vegetables, it’s a little naughty and a little healthy. Super fast and super delicious- it’s the perfect weeknight dinner!

Hi, I’m mostly interested in the Ranch dressing recipe. How closely, in your opinion, does it taste like the Ranch dressing Winger’s serves? Thanks.

I made these and they were delicious! Totally met my sticky fingers expectations. They were sweet with some heat and sticky as heck. I feel like you could kick up the heat if you wanted to by simply adding more hot sauce. Awesome recipe! And the ranch was a score too. I don’t like ranch from a bottle but this was a (an?…neither seems right lol) herby creamy dressing that’d I’d definitely eat again.
