I am a big time believer in the cumulative effect of a lot of tiny actions.
I get discouraged thinking of deep cleaning my house for hours, or writing an entire book, or running a marathon. It feels too daunting, and like it would require a herculean effort to achieve.
But picking up a little throughout the day leads to a clean house. Writing in my journal for 5 minutes every week leads to pages and pages of my personal history. Working out for 30 minutes every day leads to a mental and physically healthy me.
And when it comes to putting myself together, a little goes a long way. Taking an extra 3 minutes to jazz up my ponytail and put on some makeup changes my whole perspective. Maybe it’s shallow, but it’s the truth! I feel less like a perpetually behind and forgetting something mom of little people, and more like someone who has definitely brushed their teeth today. It’s a good feeling.
I wear my hair in a ponytail a lot. And this quick trick takes my ponytail from ho hum to hey hottie! At least, that’s what I tell myself.
