Quick and versatile, this Double Braid Top Knot is perfect for a casual day or something more dressy. It’s perfect for short hair, long hair, and every length in between.

I recently got a haircut, for the first time in almost 2 years. It was long overdue, so I had to take a few inches to get back to healthy hair. I’m still getting used to styling my collarbone length hair. My usual go-to styles of top knots and buns don’t quite work with this length.

Luckily, there are still tons of ways to style medium length hair. This hairstyle works for any length, and any thickness! Backcombing your hair before twisting into a bun gives it the illusion of more fullness.

Supplies needed:
• Hairspray (I love Redken Control Addict)
• Texture Spray (I’m using Redken Triple Dry Texture Spray)
Step 1
Part hair in the middle. Section a 1.5-2 inch section and clip hair out of the way.
Step 2
Braid hair in section backwards, continuing braid a couple of inches past where the head curves away. For more help with a dutch braid, check out this post. Tie off with an elastic.
Step 3
Repeat on the other side of the part. Combine both braids and tie in an elastic. Remove other elastics.
Step 4
Backcomb hair and twist into a bun. Wrap with another elastic.
Step 5
Use a flatiron to curl random pieces of hair for a loose, lived-in look. Spray with texture spray to finish.
