Sometimes I feel a little insecure about posting beauty tutorials. I am not an Instagram model with perfect hair and make up at all times.
An appalling amount of the photos I attempt to take of my makeup look like this:
Any Arrested Development fans in the house?
The point is: I’m awkward and aggressively average in my beauty abilities.
But I do have my cosmetology license and I really love to play around with hair and make up. My hope is that my fairly unimpressive beauty “skills” will convince you that if I can do it, anyone can.
I left my purple shampoo in a little too long, so ignore my sort of purple hair here.
This basic technique for an every day eye make up look can be tailored to the make up you have on hand, and the colors you like to wear. You just need a light color, a darker color, and a complimentary accent color. Something darker or shimmery or bolder than your all over color, that will blend with your crease color.
A FEW DETAILS
• Always prime your eyelid! Use a primer (I love Urban Decay) or your foundation. This helps the eyeshadow stay put, prevents creasing, and makes the color show up better.
• I love to wear tans and golds with my eyes. I have brown eyes and using a gold shimmer makes them pop. Purples are great for green eyes, and browns make blue eyes really stand out. Use whatever colors you use and love, and give this placement a try!
• Apply eyeshadow with a smaller, more dense eyeshadow brush and blender with a fatter and fluffier brush.
• Always pat on glitter eyeshadow, don’t swipe! Use your finger for super glittery shadows for the most pigment.
• Line your eyes as close to the lash line as you can. For every day looks, I just line my top lid. This makes your eyes look bigger.
• Apply multiple coats of mascara while your mascara is still wet to build and create longer lashes.
• Apply a very light color right under your brow bone and in the inner corner of your eye to brighten your eyes.
So versatile, easy, and pretty!
